Conversational Voice interfaces and chatbots are computer programs that allow humans to converse and interact with computers through either spoken commands or written text. Conversational Voice Interfaces and Chatbox are especially used in communication.

Voice Interface

Voice user interfaces (VUIs) allow the user to interact with a system through voice or speech commands. Virtual assistants, such as Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa, are examples of VUIs.

Types of Voice Interface

  1. IVR : Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is an automated telephony system that interacts with callers, gathers information and routes calls to the appropriate recipients.
  2. Smart Speaker : A smart speaker is a type of speaker and voice command device with an integrated virtual assistant that offers interactive actions and hands-free activation with the help of one “hot word” (or several “hot words”).
  3. Voice Command Device (VCD) : Video CD (abbreviated as VCD, and also known as Compact Disc Digital Video) is a home video format and the first format for distributing films on standard 120 mm (4.7 in) optical discs.
  4. Multimodal Voice UI : A multimodal user interface uses the combination of two or more different human senses to interact with computers.

Chatbot

chatbot is an artificial intelligence (AI) software that can simulate a conversation (or a chat) with a user in natural language through messaging applications, websites, mobile apps or through the telephone.

Types of Chatbot

  1. Button-based Bot : Button-based chat bots have the potential advantage of presenting all available choices to the visitor. A visitor may not know that a choice or known question exists for an A.I. based chat bot, so it may not occur to them to ask.
  2. Hybrid Bot : Hybrid chatbot is installed within an existing user to agent communication proccess (chat, social media, email). The chatbot takes over the conversation when it is sure to understand the user request.
  3. AI Bot : AI chatbot is a software that can simulate a user conversation with a natural language through messaging applications.
  4. Voice Bot : (Future of bots) They will talk to you like two humans talk to each other.

  • Helps Manage Customer Requests.

  • Higher Capacity for Misunderstanding.
  • Need to be Maintained.

Cons :

  • Lack of Emotions
  • Difficult to create
  • Require Maintainence

While they don’t have emotions and require continuous maintenance, you can assign a personality to them and also add more content to their databases.
