Which is better SSD or HDD

So, do you all have a doubt that SSD vs HDD, which is better?

If we are choosing right storage it is not just about capacity and cost. It is important to see what type of storage our computer uses for performance, including power consumption and reliability.

HDD

HDD
Hard Disk Drive

Hard disk drive(HDD) is a non-volatile storage device that lives inside the computer. It contains one or more platters, inside of the air-sealed casing.

HDD has an arm with several ‘heads’ (transducers) that read and write data on the disk. The arm moves the heads across the surface of the disk to access different data.

Each time you ask your computer to retrieve or update the data. Then, the read/write head gathers the data by reading the presence or absence of a charge in each address.

SSD

SSD
Solid State Drive

Solid state drive(SSD) git their name as solid state because they have no moving parts. In an SSD, all data is stored in integrated circuits.

Their capacity changes depending on how much data they can hold by making them flexible for smaller devices.

In SSD, updating is more complex. All data in the block must be refreshed when any part of it is updated. Firstly, the data on the old block is copied to a different block. Then older block gets erased and the data is rewritten with the changes to new block.

SSD vs HDD : Speed

  • SSD is so popular because of its speed.
  • Hard drive requires time to speed up to operating specs.
  • HDD will be slower than SSD during normal use.
  • Speed is affected by the interface used in SSD and hard drive.

SSD vs HDD : Capacity

  • When it comes to capacity, SSDs for computers are available in 120 GB to 4 TB.
  • Whereas, in HDD it is from 250 GB to 14 TB.
  • So, in capacity HDD is better than SSD.
  • But while measuring cost per capacity HDDs costs more than SSDs.

SSD vs HDD : Reliability and Durability

  • SSDs has no moving parts so, it will keep your data safe in case you drop your laptop while operating.
  • Most hard drives keep their read/write when the system is off, not while working.
  • So, if we are rough towards our equipment, SSD is recommended.

Conclusion

So we have learnt in detail about SSD and HDD.

In conclusion, SSD is better in terms of speed. And for capacity , reliability and durability HDD is better.
