What Is Quantum Computing?

What Is Quantum Computing ?

Quantum computing uses the phenomenon of quantum mechanics to take a big leap forward in computers to solve some problems.

As we know, quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits, to encode information as 0s, 1s. Or it uses both at the same time. While, conventional digital computers uses bits represented by 0s or 1s to store information.

Most importantly, the secret of quantum computer power lies in its ability to generate and handle quantum bits or qubits.

How Does Quantum Computers work?

As we know, the potential of the computational power of quantum computing, we expect vast working.

In fact, currently, they are about the size of a domestic fridge. And, with a wardrobe-sized box to the control electronics.

In the same way that bits are used in a classical computer, at the heart of the quantum computer. These are quantum bits or qubits (also known as CUE-bits) which can store information in quantum form.

Why Quantum Computing is Important?

Firstly, quantum computing is important because, they deliver tremendous speed-ups for only specific types of problems.

Researchers are working to develop an algorithm to show which problems are appropriate for quantum speed-up. And they will demonstrate it.

In general, it is believed that quantum computers will help immensely with problems related to optimization. And, in addition, it will play key roles in everything from defense to financial trading.

Advantages

  • Faster computation

It can execute any task very faster when compared to the classical computer. This is the main advantage of quantum computing.

But, to clarify, all the tasks can’t be done better by quantum computing when compared to traditional computer.

  • Best of simulation

They are best for doing data simulation computing. There are many algorithms created that can simulate various things.

  • Medicine creation

These types of computers can work well in the medical field. They can detect diseases and create a formula for medicines.

  • High privacy

These computers can make high encryption. It is impossible to break the security of quantum computers. It is good at cryptography.

  • Used in artificial intelligence, machine learning and in radar making.

Disadvantages

  • Algorithm Creation

For every type of computation, it needs to write a new algorithm. They need special algorithms to perform tasks in their environment. Because, we know quantum computers cannot work as classical computers.

  • Not open for public

They are not available for public use due to high prices. Also, errors in these types of computers are high because they are still in the development stage.

  • Firstly, the technology required to implement a quantum computer is not available at present. This is the main disadvantage of quantum computing.

Summary

In conclusion, quantum computers have the potential to revolutionize computation. Although no quantum computer has yet been developed to perform calculations that a classical computer cannot, great progress is under way.

In short, in this article, we have learnt what is quantum computing, how and why it is important. Also, we have seen its advantages and disadvantages.
